avast antivirus won't update the virus database

Hi all. I've noticed in the past few days that avast antivirus isn't updating the virus database like it did before. Is there something I can do in order to start the update process?

avast updates when there are updates available. maybe there isn't any updates since mine hasn't be updating as well.

Hmmm. Mine updated yesterday...
Try Right clicking its icon in the System try and under Updating, do a Program update. That helps.

I also have a question regarding Avast. Can someone tell me, is Jaws 5.10 compatible with Avast? How do I go in to the menus if it is compatible. Also, if not, is there a "trustworthy" program that I can download that is?

I realize that I have a very old version of Jaws but is all I can afford to have. I just need something that is going to be useful for me.. Anyway, I appreciate all of the people who have taken the time to answer others questions no matter how silly, or trivial, they may seem. You guys are a great help.
